- Abstract
- This paper studies some properties of a recently proposed adaptive VQ scheme based on a neural network approach. The scheme is distinctive in that it does not require a separate channel to transmit adaptation information. Its application to two systems, subband image coding and image vector quantisation for transmission over a noisy channel, is investigated, and some theoretical issues are discussed.
