- Abstract
- This technical report describes the Quagga Accelerator (QA), an implementation of a technique for artificially accelerating ’real time’ to evaluate historical real-world BGP traffic. The QA is based on the MRT Dump File Manipulation Toolkit (MDFMT) and Quagga version 0.99.13. It replays a live BGP update stream previously recorded in MRT format into Quagga faster than real-time, by accelerating Quagga’s internal clock, yet generating outputs which still reflect actual BGP operation. We explain the implementation in detail and show performance results considering the impact of our technique when multiple instances of Quagga run on a single host, and give an outlook of possible implementations of the QA when Quagga instances are distributed across multiple hosts.
