- Abstract
- The Faculty of Design at Swinburne University of Technology presented an exhibition celebrating the work of outstanding designers and media practitioners, graduates of this small but influential institution from the earliest years when design and art training were provided. The exhibition brings together a diverse range of successful designers and practices, and showcases work that spans decades, charting changes in Australian culture, society and the economy, giving way to the rise of new design professions and new media disciplines. Some of the Swinburne alumni featured in Pen to Pixel include: Ellison Harvie, the first woman senior architect of a major architectural practice in Australia (Stephenson & Turner 1930s-1950s); internationally acclaimed film director, Gillian Armstrong.
