- Abstract
- This paper examines the recent economic shocks to the Australian economy which have prompted the Government to plan and implement structural changes with the aim of achieving greater industry competitiveness. In many respects the dual economic development of the past has contributed to the economy's failure to keep pace with global economic changes. In considering these factors an examination of Australia's human capital and labour markets will be conducted to assess how the inherent problems afflicting these areas, and the attendant micro-economic reforms will affect the economy.
