- Abstract
- The National Conference on Multiculturalism and Libraries had its origins in February 1979, when Radha Rasmussen of the Graduate School of Librarianship at Monash University presented a detailed proposal to the Victorian Branch of the LAA, requesting its backing. This was given, and a committee began planning the conference for late 1980. In the middle of 1979 interest in multicultural library service led to the creation of the Working Group on Multicultural Library Services (Victoria), which was formed at a meeting on July 2, 1979. The conference has been the major achievement so far of the Victorian Working Group on Multicultural Library Services, which is the publisher of these proceedings.
