- Abstract
- The vital role played by children's rhymes, music and movement in developing language and communication is discussed. Examples of particular books of children's rhymes and songs are provided. The author notes that the highly visible, vibrant relationship that exists between oral language, text, kinaesthetic communication and body movement, visual imagery and music is certainly patently clear in the body language and enjoyment of children (and adults) singing, dancing and engaging with their favourite stories, rhymes, verse and songs.
