- Abstract
- In Futures Studies and Foresight, we start with the sum total of all human knowledge; and we then ask: 'where to now?' We are frequently called upon, in corporate strategy development or public policy work, to 'see the bigger picture'. This is rarely an easy thing to do, bound up as we are in the minute details of daily life and work. We don't often get a chance to look outside the familiar confines of our family, organisation, society or planet. So, how can we practice seeing the bigger picture? In this lecture, I'd like to give you a chance to do so, and take you on a whistle-stop tour of the biggest picture there is - the Universe, our place in it, how we came to be here, and where we might be heading. Hang on, and have fun.
