- Widgets are amongst the cutest of web accessories. No doubt the word itself helps; if they were called Desktop Life Management Services, perhaps they would be less enchanting. This is in fact what they are: mini applications that sit on your screen and make your life easier/richer/sillier; the perfect accoutrement for any self-respecting member of Generation C (as in 'content') and very much a part of the current internet ethos in which users get to customise their own web experience.
