- Abstract
- In general, composite materials have advantage of having an optimized performance, minimized weight and volume, cost effectiveness, chemical resistance. The research in this paper is focused on kenaf fibre with adhesive of low emission urea formaldehyde resin (UF) with 51.6% solid content. The fabrication process for fibre UF board is based on the wood particle which makes the board fabrication simple and low cost. The board density of 600 kg/m3 was chosen based on the standard wood particle board. Two sizes of kenaf fibre and various fibre weight fractions of 90%, 85% and 80%, were used in the fabrication of kenaf UF composite boards. Different tests were carried to find out the properties of fabricated board. The obtained results show that the higher tensile and bending strength values are achieved at 80% weight fraction regardless of the Fibre size. Besides, the test shows that the highest value for modulus of rupture MOR and modulus of elasticity MOE for both 1mm and 600
