- Abstract
- The deformation models of both intact and damaged hexagonal aluminium honeycombs under dynamic loading have been studied using the finite element method. A commercial package, LS-DYNA, has been employed for the numerical simulation due to its strong capacity in impact analysis. The factors that have an influence on the deformation modes of the honeycombs, such as cell geometry, number and positions of the missing cells, have been discussed. The study sheds an insight into the deformation mode of honeycombs under impact loading.
