- Abstract
- Smart Handheld Device (SHD) design trends currently result in a number of usability issues specific to older users. The capabilities of a rapidly increasing group of older users are not addressed by the expanding functionality and number of SHDs available. Employing SHD design strategies that incorporate principles of universal and inclusive design could prove useful in ensuring that these older users are not marginalised within this new area of portable communication, entertainment, and information technology devices.
