- In recent years there has been an increasing interest in the application of mathematics to problems in sport. Students interested in a range of mathematical applications in sports such as baseball, Americann football, basketball, hockey, cricket, tennis, golf, athletics and rowing should read Ladany and machol (1977), 'Optimal Strategies in Sports', North Holland Publ.
