- Abstract
- The statistics on population movement within Australia are well known, as evidenced by the range of papers presented in this volume. We know, for example, that approximately 16 per cent of the Australian population change their residence in any given year. Just over half stay within the same metropolitan area and another quarter remain within the same statistical region. About 11 per cent of households make a longer, inter-regional, move.
