- Abstract
- In cognitive psychology, researchers have suggested that mental models are important to the general understanding of how humans interact and cope with the world. Mental models are believed to guide comprehension of and responses to information in the environment. Two branches of mental model literature are discussed, and some preliminary findings presented regarding team and equipment mental models. Team mental models were explored and measured in a large government business enterprises, and concerned management and shop floor employee experiences of industrial participation. Equipment mental models were explored in relation to cases using a large mobile telephone network.
