- Abstract
- This paper is a response to an earlier article: Barway, S., & Kembhavi, A. (2007). A supermassive black hole fundamental plane for ellipticals. Astrophysical Journal, 662: L67-L70 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1086/519560). A simple regression analysis designed for predicting the supermassive black hole mass, Mbh, from the effective radius and mean effective surface brightness of the host bulge has been performed using the data from Barway & Kembhavi. The scatter in the log(Mbh) direction is 0.32 dex, greater than reported and comparable with values obtained using a single predictor quantity such as luminosity, velocity dispersion or Sersic index.
