- Preservation and expansion of diversity: AUS-US Free Trade Agreement
- Author(s)

- Abstract
- Malcolm Long has talked about what we can and should do to preserve and expand diversity in our media future. I want to talk mainly about whether we'll still have the capacity to do it. The thing I want to talk most about is the free trade agreement Australia is likely to sign later this year with the United States, a draft of which was released earlier this month. The draft agreement places some important constraints on the ability of Australian governments to maintain, adapt and introduce policy measures addressing media diversity. [Introduction]
