- Abstract
- Acoustic emission methodology was used to study a variety of plasma-sprayed oxide coatings subjected to thermal cycling in the range 25 degree to 650 degree C. Coatings of Al//2O//3, TiO//2, CaO-stabilized ZrO//2, and Y//2O//3-stabilized ZrO//2, sprayed onto one end of a steel substrate, with and without NiCrAl bond coat, were examined to relate acoustic activity to coating failure.
