- Author(s)
- Thomas, Julian; Meredyth, Denise
- Abstract
- Five years ago, many of us were concerned about the ‘digital divide’. Are there still serious concerns about inequalities in citizens’ capacity to access and use online services? Hear two key speakers reflect on the conceptual and empirical basis of the idea of the ‘digital divide’. Professor Julian Thomas is Director of the Institute for Social Research at Swinburne University and leads the international research program of the new ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation. Professor Denise Meredyth is Deputy Director of the Institute for Social Research at Swinburne University and the program leader of the Citizenship and Government program within the Institute.
